Our Technologist, Plastic Injection Molding/3D Printing position is a unique career opportunity that could be your next step towards an exciting future.
Applies advanced technical expertise in mold setup, process optimization, and operation and maintenance of injection‑molding machines, robotic systems and auxiliary equipment. Utilizes strong hands‑on capability and precision in the fabrication and refinement of engineering prototypes, supporting continuous product improvement, process enhancement, and new product development initiatives. The position requires daily engagement across all three functional areas to identify and resolve bottlenecks, maintain operational flow, and support cross‑disciplinary needs.
How you’ll make an impact:
Operate plastic injection molding equipment: Set up, tune, and run both bench‑top (APSX‑PIM) and full‑scale production machines (Arburg Allrounder 275 V).
Support metal 3D printing for mold making: Use Mantle Trushape software for setup and slicing, and operate the Mantle 3D metal printer and sintering oven.
Work with DMLM/SLS metal 3D printers: Prepare builds using Magics or similar software and run GE Mlabs or Trumpf metal additive manufacturing systems.
Program and run advanced machining equipment: Use CNC mills (3–5 axis), CNC lathes, water jets, wire EDM, and manual machines to create prototype parts, tooling, and devices.
Collaborate with engineers: Help identify and clarify potential design issues and escalate concerns when needed.
Support safety and compliance: Maintain chemical and material MSDS logs and stay current with required EH&S training.
General responsibilities: Keep the workspace clean and organized and assist with other tasks as needed.
What you'll need (Required):
High School Diploma or equivalent
5+ years of previous related experience in a prototype/production environment and injection molding experience
What else we look for (Preferred):
Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, completion of a technical trade program, or equivalent experience
Hands‑on experience operating manufacturing machinery relevant to the role
Basic understanding of Scientific Injection Molding principles
Ability to rapidly develop proficiency in 3D metal printing through provided training and hands‑on practice
Skilled in operating plastic processing equipment, performing tooling changes, adjusting process parameters, and interpreting technical drawings
Ability to troubleshoot plastic molding processes to ensure parts meet dimensional, cosmetic, and cycle‑time requirements; capable of preparing or repairing water and compressed‑air hoses
Experience generating work orders and reports in the Maximo maintenance system
Ability to safely operate a pallet jack for mold transport
Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for equipment such as temperature control units, dryers, and injection molding machines
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related business systems
Strong written and verbal communication abilities and effective interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work professionally across all organizational levels
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to generate daily equipment reports, including downtime and setup time tracking
Participation in continuous improvement initiatives and support for validation activities
Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skills
Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $61,000 to $86,000 (highly experienced).
