About the Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in HR Compliance with deep expertise in Indian Labor Laws and Payroll Governance. The role will be responsible for ensuring 100% statutory compliance, payroll accuracy, risk mitigation, audit readiness, and advisory support to leadership on regulation.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of Central & State labor legislations, payroll structuring, statutory filings, and compliance frameworks across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

Labor Law Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Central & State labor laws including:
    • Shops & Establishment Act
    • Minimum Wages Act
    • Payment of Wages Act
    • EPF & Miscellaneous Provisions Act
    • ESI Act
    • Payment of Bonus Act
    • Gratuity Act
    • Maternity Benefit Act
    • CLRA Act (if applicable)
  • Monitor regulatory updates and assess impact on company policies.
  • Liaise with government authorities, inspectors, and consultants.
  • Manage inspections, notices, and legal documentation.
  • Ensure timely filing of returns, registers, and statutory records.
  • Maintain statutory registers and records.
  • Coordinate for timely filing of returns and statutory deposits.
  • Assist during labor inspections and audits.
  • Track regulatory updates and support policy implementation.

 

Payroll Governance & Structuring

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing with 100% accuracy.
  • Ensure statutory deductions (PF, ESI, PT, TDS) are correctly computed and deposited.
  • Validate salary structuring aligned with tax efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure final settlement (F&F) compliance and statutory timelines.
  • Reconcile payroll reports with finance.
  • Ensure compliance under Income Tax Act for payroll taxation.

 

Compliance Framework & Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain compliance trackers & dashboards.
  • Conduct periodic internal compliance audits.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Draft/update HR policies in line with legal mandates.
  • Support in due diligence during audits, funding rounds, or statutory reviews.

 

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage payroll vendors and compliance partners.
  • Coordinate with finance, legal, and business teams.
  • Provide advisory support to leadership on complex compliance issues.

 

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain statutory registers & digital records.
  • Prepare compliance MIS for management review.
  • Ensure documentation readiness for labor audits.

 

Candidate Profile:

  1. MBA / PGDM in HR / MSW / Law degree preferred.
  2. 5–7 years of experience in HR Compliance & Payroll.
  3. Strong hands-on experience in multi-state labor compliance.
  4. Experience in handling inspections & statutory audits.
  5. Proficiency in payroll systems & HRMS.
  6. Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  7. Deep understanding of Indian labor legislation
  8. Strong payroll analytics capability
  9. Risk assessment mindset
  10. Attention to detail
  11. Stakeholder management
  12. Problem-solving & advisory skills

 

Preferred Experience

  1. Experience in real estate / manufacturing / multi-location workforce.
  2. Exposure to HR digitization & compliance automation tools.
  3. Experience handling 300+ employee base.
