Principal Purpose of Position:
Prepares samples for analysis/examination and carries out a diversified range of complex metallurgical services. Has thorough knowledge of specific testing areas and can complete all testing with no supervision. Perform various mechanical tests on specialized equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc. Perform various metallographic and magnetic tests using etchants, polishing equipment and specialized metallographic equipment. Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation. Makes recommendation to supervision based on recorded test data. Also responsible for tasks related to directing, training and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Met Lab within the specific testing area. Developing knowledge of testing procedures in other areas and may be able to complete testing in these areas.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetics Testing, or Heat Treating.

Education and/or Training:
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
Relevant Work Experience:
Three or more years of relevant experience.
