We are currently looking for a Technician 4 to join our team in NTCNA-Farmington Hills, MI.
A Day in the Life:
This role will be responsible for vehicle assembly and tear down. Support all vehicle assembly functions. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and conducting vehicle/component level testing, maintaining testing equipment and testing areas, assisting engineers with unique testing needs and any other task as requested by management. You will operate as an expert in your area by anticipating and troubleshooting potential problems and predicting new equipment needs.
Retrofit of vehicles, diagnostics of build concerns, and diagnostics of vehicle programming.
Assisting engineering team with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and developing effective countermeasures.
Communicating accurately and professionally with technicians, engineers, and management teams.
Creating detailed reports on concerns found during retrofit.
Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met.
Maintaining delivery timing on retrofits as well as daily vehicle maintenance.
Perform oil change, refrigerant removal and replacement, tire balancing and car alignments.
Quality checks of pre and post builds.
Machinist Responsibilities:
Reviewing samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications.
Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
Taking measurements and marking materials for cutting or shaping.
Setting up and operating machines such as lathes, grinders, brake press, band saw, welding (TIG, MIG, Stick) and milling machines.
Monitoring the production process to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects.
Performing routine maintenance on machines and equipment
3D Printing
Who We’re Looking for:
Experience with Garage type equipment, hoists, Liquid evacuation tools for engine removals.
Willing to work overtime and travel as needed; the candidate must be able to work overtime on some weekends and off-shift as needed.
Strong automotive mechanical skills, problem solving skills, and proficient using Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to maintain clean and safe work area.
Organization skills.
Clearly explain and define concerns.
Proven experience as a machinist.
Ability to use precision tools like calipers and micrometers.
Knowledge of metal properties and other materials.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Required:
Associate degree in an automotive related discipline preferred
8 year of Test Technician experience in Lab Operations Department or equivalent OR 12 years Test Technician experience in lieu of an associate’s degree
Desired:
Vehicles diagnostics, vehicle programming, welding, painting and fabrication
Previously worked in a Nissan facility
