HOURS: Full-Time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of your time with our clients or at our office sites

At Scottish Widows, we focus on building strong, lasting relationships with advisers and strategic partners. This role sits at the heart of our Distribution Enablement function, providing deep technical expertise to support adviser relationships and drive platform excellence.

As a Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering thought leadership, complex case support, and technical enablement aligned to the Scottish Widows platform roadmap. You will act as a subject matter expert across pensions, tax, and intergenerational planning, helping advisers navigate the evolving financial landscape post-budget reform.

With a remit that spans both front-of-house engagement and internal capability building, you will produce high-impact content, support onboarding and pitching for strategic partners, and contribute to continuous improvement across our distribution channels. This role is critical to maximising our technical capability and brand presence in the platform market.

This role is field based within the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Produce and deliver technical content across pensions, tax, and intergenerational planning in line with roadmap deliveries, supporting navigate post-budget regulatory landscape.

  • Contribute to the development of adviser tools and resources that transform adviser experience and client outcomes.

  • Provide reactive support to firms on complex cases to resolve queries swiftly and professionally.

  • Enable technical capability across distribution teams through content creation and training.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in pitches for new partners, supporting the articulation of technical value and proposition strength.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and consistency in adviser communications.

What You’ll Need

  • Professional Qualification: Hold a Level 6 qualification in Financial Planning or an equivalent designation relevant to your area of specialism (e.g. pensions, tax, estate planning).

  • Front-of-house capability: Confidently deliver engaging technical content to adviser audiences through presentations, webinars, and strategic partner meetings

  • Stakeholder management: Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders – including Distribution, Proposition and Marketing – to shape proposition development and delivery.

  • Adviser outcomes focus: Show a strong commitment to delivering excellent adviser and customer outcomes, with a proactive approach to complex case support.

  • Excellent communication skills: Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for both internal teams and external audiences.

  • Market Awareness: Stay informed on legislative changes, budget reforms, and competitor activity to ensure our technical capability remains market-leading.
