Technical Project Lead – Product Quality & Lifecycle Operations
We are looking for a Technical Project Lead with an engineering background to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering project management, electrical engineering, and sustaining engineering.
As a Technical project lead at SONOS you will help drive all design changes for feature enhancement, cost reduction and performance improvement to Sonos products once they are released into mass production. Challenges include keeping up with ever-expanding manufacturing locations & volumes and navigating global supply shortages through product redesign. Develop and test ideas for product improvements, driving down costs, improving yields, product reliability and sustainability, and enhancing manufacturing reproducibility.
Responsibilities:
1, Lead development, validation, and implementation of product refresh/redesign and cost-reduction projects, including:
Lead hardware design and development at both the board and system level
Work with internal EE & ME leads to develop schematics and drawings, BOM generation, & PCB layouts
Collaborate with audio, mechanical, radio, software, and other development teams to complete the design.
Define the qualification plan, including build configurations and hardware validation test plan
Oversee verification of designs with engineering support from both internal and external hardware & operations teams
Identify and track risk mitigation workstreams development & launch phases
Control, revise and release the project documentation & configuration in a PLM system
2, Manage projects across internal cross-functional teams and external contract manufacturers according to the scope of the project, which may include some or all of the following:
Work cross-functionally with our global operations teams to define the business objectives and perform cost/benefit analysis
Develop the project schedule, manage technical resources and budget
Clearly communicate detailed project status on a regular basis
Organize project meetings and track all technical issues
Lead the project team through troubleshooting all problems to resolution
3, Support traditional sustaining responsibilities such as failure analysis, component qualifications and performance improvements.
4, Provide “lessons-learned” feedback to the Product Development team and participate in design reviews to ensure that the next generation of Sonos products are better than ever.
5, Partner cross-functionally with Quality and Customer Support teams to fully understand the user experience and any design change implications.
6, Work directly with our Compliance Engineering team to ensure our product’s continued compliance with regulations and international standards.
7, Drive continuous improvements in engineering processes and best practices.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical project leadership or project management expertise and engineering design work experience with demonstrated technical abilities. Other important qualifications include:
3+ years of project management experience, preferably including direct experience with contract manufacturers, and leading OEM/JDM projects.
Minimum of 4+ years of engineering experience, preferably in product development of consumer electronics. Electrical experience is preferred, and audio experience is a plus.
Proficient in verbal and written communication of technical concepts in English with U.S. counterparts
Technically inquisitive – must be able to take on new technical challenges, learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply that knowledge to solve the issue at hand.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to understand system-level issues.
Ability to propose, set up, and execute design validation testing plans with limited guidance.
Experience with data collection and statistical analysis methods.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, to recognize the level of urgency of problems and to prioritize tasks.
Experience with a wide variety of electrical test equipment
Well-developed reporting skills (written technical communications), including the ability to summarize complicated issues.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in related technical discipline is preferred. Other engineering degrees or experience may be considered.
