We are looking for a Technical Program Manager - New Product Installations to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Electrical Utilities and Construction Engineering and will be a fully remote position based anywhere in California.

The Technical Program Manager - New Product Installations provides technical support to Bloom Energy’s Installations Organization by performing constructability reviews, overseeing installation documentation, evaluating specifications, and supporting field execution activities. This role strengthens installation quality, reduces construction risk, and ensures consistency across installation standards and documentation. Although this position does not carry an engineering title, it requires strong technical aptitude, installation experience, and the ability to evaluate design packages and specifications for constructability, cost‑effectiveness, and compliance. The Technical Program Manager works closely with engineering, construction, and field teams to support the successful deployment of Bloom Energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

Constructability Review and Technical Governance

  • Conduct targeted drawing reviews for projects where constructability input provides measurable value, specifically:
    • Sites greater than 5 MW
    • Non‑EPC projects
  • Lead quality control (QC) and value engineering (VE) reviews for high‑impact installations.
  • Serve as the primary reviewer for Tallgrass project drawing packages due to their scale and complexity.
  • Evaluate technical handover packages and provide accept/veto recommendations to support early leadership decision‑making.
  • Provide early‑stage constructability feedback to design teams to improve installation efficiency and reduce field rework.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce installation cost, simplify construction sequencing, and mitigate field risk.

Specification Review and Value Engineering Oversight

  • Review installation‑related specifications, material selections, and vendor proposals to identify cost‑saving alternatives and ensure alignment with Bloom standards.
  • Evaluate alternate materials, conductor types, grounding approaches, and installation methods for technical suitability and cost impact.
  • Provide recommendations for specification updates that improve cost, availability, constructability, or long‑term reliability.
  • Partner with engineering and supply chain teams to validate alternate specifications and ensure proper follow‑through from recommendation to implementation.
  • Support continuous improvement of installation specifications based on lessons learned, field feedback, and vendor performance.

Installation Documentation Ownership

  • Manage the structure, accuracy, and ongoing updates of installation manuals across all product lines.
  • Oversee third‑party contractors responsible for producing installation manual revisions.
  • Ensure installation documentation reflects current standards, lessons learned, and field best practices.
  • Maintain documentation quality and consistency as Bloom introduces new product variations.

Submittal Review and Field Support

  • Review equipment submittals to ensure alignment with installation requirements and design intent.
  • Provide technical clarification and support to field teams during installation and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct targeted site visits (10–20% travel) to assess field conditions, resolve issues, and validate constructability assumptions.
  • Support issue resolution by coordinating with engineering, construction, and field operations teams.
  • Review and support development of MOPs associated with electrical energizations, tie-ins and commissioning.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with construction engineering, installation design, project management, and field operations teams to ensure alignment on installation requirements.
  • Coordinate with drafting resources to ensure constructability requirements are accurately incorporated into construction documents.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings to provide updates on drawing reviews, documentation status, and technical handover readiness.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between design teams and field execution teams to ensure alignment and reduce rework.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, installation practices, and field execution constraints.
  • Ability to identify cost‑saving and risk‑reducing opportunities within design packages and specifications.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, installation documentation, or technical handover materials.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to drive complex tasks to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Effective collaboration skills with cross‑functional engineering and construction teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in construction, installation, field engineering, or technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with permitting, construction submittals, and RFI processes.
  • Experience coordinating with drafting or design teams on construction documentation.
  • Exposure to specification development, alternate material evaluation, or value‑engineering processes.
