We’re driving principal-level Product Ownership to build and evolve cutting-edge DevSecOps and Quality Engineering products at enterprise scale.
You have deep technical credibility across DevSecOps, CI/CD, cloud, automation, and Quality Engineering to lead complex product capabilities end-to-end.
Together we productise secure, scalable, and automated engineering capabilities that embed quality, security, and resilience by design.
Do work that matters:
We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank. Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia’s future economy.
The Technical Product Owner – DevSecOps & Quality Engineering owns the end-to-end DevSecOps product capability, driving work that matters by shaping strategy, tooling, and measurable outcomes that enable secure, high-quality software at scale. While product expertise is important, this role is first and foremost about capability leadership, using a principal-level technical background to define vision, set a data-driven roadmap, and continuously evolve DevSecOps and Quality Engineering as technology changes.
Acting as a centralised SME, you lead the adoption and evolution of CI/CD with GitHub Actions, infrastructure as code using Terraform and CloudFormation, container platforms with Docker and Kubernetes on EKS, AKS and GKE, security by design through Snyk, SonarQube and HashiCorp Vault, and quality and performance engineering using automation and platforms such as BlazeMeter and JMeter.
You define success through metrics, insights, and reporting to guide prioritisation and investment. While not coding day to day, you will get your hands dirty when needed by validating designs, unblocking teams, and demonstrating technical credibility, working closely with engineering leaders and executives to introduce new products, uplift DevSecOps capability, and enable engineers to build the future of banking faster and safer.
See yourself in our team:
CBA’s Technology Unit drives world-class digital banking, leading digital delivery, data and analytics, platforms, cyber security, fraud prevention, and resilience across the Group. It also empowers over 53,000 people with cutting-edge workplace technology to collaborate smarter and deliver more for our customers.
The Engineering Quality Crew sits at the heart of the Engineering Platform Division and plays a critical role in how high-quality, secure engineering platforms are built and scaled across the organisation. Led by Dwayne Helena, Crew Lead Engineering Quality, this centralised team brings together Technical Product Owners and Principal Engineers who act as product and capability experts across a wide range of services that power core platforms across the group.
Working through a strong Product Owner lens and backed by deep technical and strategic expertise, the team drives innovation across quality, security and automation, with AI at the core of how modern engineering platforms are enabled. Owning key capabilities spanning AI-powered automation, DevSecOps and Quality Engineering, the crew designs, builds and evolves platforms used across the group’s complex engineering ecosystem.
They work closely with engineers to achieve true product excellence, embedding quality, security, scalability and automation into platform engineering and tooling. It’s a high-impact environment where you influence platform-level capabilities, collaborate with senior engineering talent, and help shape how scalable, AI-driven platform engineering is done across the organisation.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Own the capability first, then the product setting a bold, future-state technical vision for DevSecOps, Quality Engineering and Automation, and maturing those capabilities into scalable, high-impact product services.
Bring a strong technical quality engineering and or platform engineering background, enabling you to credibly drive strategic product modernisation capabilities and provide hands-on technical direction where it matters most.
Drive deep technical strategy and outcomes across CI/CD, cloud-native platforms, infrastructure-as-code and secure software supply chains, while partnering closely with Principal Engineers to shape architecture and long-term evolution.
Translate complex engineering, quality, and security needs into clear product roadmaps, balancing innovation, technical debt, risk, and enterprise priorities to deliver measurable outcomes at scale.
Bring strong financial ownership and strategic rigor, including portfolio prioritisation, value tracking, metrics, observability, and executive-level reporting that links engineering investment to business outcomes.
Influence at senior and executive levels, confidently articulating technical opportunities, trade-offs, and value propositions while aligning product services to enterprise strategy and regulatory expectations.
Think big picture and forward-looking, passionate about continuous improvement, AI-enabled engineering, and building future-ready DevSecOps and Quality capabilities that lift the entire organisation.
Tech skills
We don't expect you to know everything, but experience in several of the following will set you up for success:
Technical Product Owner – DevSecOps & Quality Engineering, leading the enterprise capability and owning the strategy, roadmap, and evolution of core DevSecOps and Quality Engineering products aligned to delivery, security, and reliability outcomes.
Owns the CI/CD product portfolio, defining pipeline standards, governance, security, and optimisation across Jenkins and GitHub Actions, with sufficient technical depth to validate designs and resolve complex platform issues.
Leads Infrastructure-as-Code and automation capabilities using Terraform and CloudFormation, establishing platform standards and reference architectures while retaining hands-on fluency for design and proof-of-concept validation.
Drives container and orchestration platform products across Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE), shaping scalable, resilient, and secure runtime capabilities and making informed technical trade-off decisions.
Owns the Quality Engineering capability, defining enterprise automation and quality architectures across Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, WebdriverIO, JUnit, PyTest, and REST Assured to embed quality by design.
Leads performance, resilience, and observability products, productising testing, chaos engineering, and telemetry using JMeter, Gatling, k6, Locust, Gremlin, ChaosMesh, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, Dynatrace, and OpenTelemetry.
Sets DevSecOps technical direction, embedding secure-by-design practices (Snyk, SonarQube, HashiCorp Vault), supported by strong coding foundations (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, JavaScript, Go) and practical adoption of AI-enabled engineering capabilities.
