We are seeking a talented individual to join our Product Development  team Marsh Risk Technology.

This role will be based in Cluj Napoca. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Senior Full‑Stack PHP Developer you will act as Technical Lead therefore it is expected from you to coordinate day‑to‑day delivery, mentor engineers, drive platform modernization, and contribute hands‑on to backend and front‑end development. Balance shipping business features with improving architecture, tooling and operational reliability.

We will count on you to:

• Lead the developer team to meet business requirements and reliably ship new features: run sprint planning, help prioritize backlog with product stakeholders, coordinate delivery and manage releases;

• Own and drive a modernization track on an older codebase: evaluate and introduce modern architectures, modularization, CI/CD improvements and technical debt reduction;

• Coach and develop junior resources, code reviews, paired programming, etc;

• Design, implement and maintain a secure, versioned and documented API layer for internal and external consumers;

• Write, review and maintain backend services in PHP and front‑end components in Angular; ensure performance, scalability and resilience;

• Promote engineering best practices: automated testing (PHPUnit and front‑end tests), code quality, continuous integration/continuous deployment and observability;

• Help troubleshoot production and pre‑production issues and implement corrective measures;

• Act as the technical liaison for stakeholders and represent the team in architecture, security and product discussions;

• Foster an inclusive, high‑performing team culture focused on collaboration, feedback and continuous improvement;

What you need to have:  

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on PHP development experience; practical knowledge of PHP 7.4+ with preference for PHP 8.x

• Strong front‑end experience with Angular 10+ and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

• Solid experience with MySQL 8.0+: schema design, indexing and query optimization

• Demonstrable experience leading a development team to deliver features end‑to‑end (planning, prioritization, delivery)

• Proven mentoring/coaching experience with junior developers (regular coaching, feedback and code reviews)

• Experience with at least one PHP framework (Laravel, Zend or equivalent) and PHPUnit for automated testing

• Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery practices; familiarity with Azure DevOps or Jira

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience
