Lead the design and development of sheet-metal and plastic components. 
Create 3D models and detailed drawings using Creo CAD tools. 
Manage ECO/ECN releases via PLM Windchill system.

 

Must Have:

Job Objective / Purpose

  • Lead the design and development of complete electromechanical products and panels in alignment with specified design requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret design requirements for fire detection panels and devices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (UL/EN).
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Drive project coordination and execution, conduct design reviews, mentor team members.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of product development, ensuring compliance with global fire detection standards through design analysis and evaluation of engineering designs.
  • Lead the design and development of sheet-metal and plastic components.
  • Create 3D models and detailed drawings using Creo CAD tools.
  • Manage ECO/ECN releases via PLM Windchill system.
  • Interpret and apply fire panel/device design standards, regulatory requirements, and product verification and validation processes, including engineering change management.
  • Conduct design analysis, validation activities, competitor benchmarking, and evaluating engineering designs for performance and compliance.
  • Perform high-level estimations of mechanical and layout activities, aligning deliverables with program management timelines.
  • Proficient in DFMEA, GD&T, stack-up analysis, and basic simulation techniques.
  • Skilled in assessing design, material, and process changes for cost optimization and performance improvement while maintaining quality and schedule adherence.
  • Review mechanical models and drawings prepared by junior engineers or contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory and DFM guidelines.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Industrial Design, Simulation, Procurement, Manufacturing, Hardware, and Technical Support.
  • Conduct internal and external stakeholder reviews involving hardware, design, and manufacturing teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers on design best practices and standards.
  • Support manufacturing and production teams during new product introductions and product changes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers for prototype manufacturing and resolve DFM/DFA issues.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
  • Role may involve occasional international travel.

Qualification / Experience

  • Education: BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Over 9 years in new product development.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the design and manufacturing processes of plastic and sheet-metal components.
  • CAD Proficiency: Skilled in 3D modeling, assembly, and drafting using Creo CAD software.
  • Project & Interpersonal Skills: Adept at resource planning, team building, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new techniques and technologies.
