Job Description

On the Technical Communications team, we strive to deliver the highest quality user instructions to Thermo Fisher Scientific customers. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative manager to lead a team of writers crafting user documentation for products related to genetic analysis, biomarker discovery, predictive genomics, reproductive health, pathogen detection, disease-specific solutions, forensics, and human identification.

Responsibilities:

  • Train and mentor writers in creating high-quality technical documentation for end users from information provided by R&D scientists, hardware and software engineers, product managers, regulatory specialists, and other key business collaborators.
  • Plan and prioritize projects across the team, analyze complex documentation requests, and distribute work among the writers.
  • Review and edit content created by writers to ensure that the information is logical, concise, and meets the needs of our target audience; recommend improvements to content organization, structure, clarity, and delivery.
  • Write new content as needed.
  • Build resource plans for current and future capacity; help hire and onboard writers and contractors; handle vendor relationships.
  • Build collaborative relationships with teams and functional areas throughout the company (technical support, field application scientists, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, product management, and others).
  • Solicit and incorporate feedback from internal and external customers to improve document quality.
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of continuous process improvement.
  • Develop operational metrics and report analytics to understand and communicate needs and drive efficiency.
  • Actively follow trends in technical communications.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science (MS or PhD preferred);

Experience:

  • Experience in the life sciences industry;
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience; will consider candidates with excellent writing, editing, and leadership skills in lieu of experience;

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Keen attention to detail and high regard for quality;
  • Excellent interpersonal and people and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant style guides and standard practices.
  • Expertise with key authoring tools, content creation, DITA standards, and XML-based authoring preferred.
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple sites.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (PPM Pro, Excel, PowerBI, etc.) preferred.

Compensation

The monthly salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €3 441,67–€5 166,67.
