Role Purpose

The Senior Director of Tech@Lilly for the Mexico Affiliate is accountable for defining, owning, and governing the technology and digital strategy that enables the affiliate’s long-term business objectives, growth ambitions, and operational resilience.

This role operates as a strategic business leader, not only ensuring execution, but making enterprise-level trade-offs across investments, capabilities, risk, and capacity. The position represents Mexico at Hub, IBU, and Global Tech forums and is a core member of the Mexico Affiliate Leadership Team.

Strategic & Enterprise Leadership

  • Define the multi-year Tech strategy and investment agenda for the Mexico Affiliate, aligned with Hub, IBU, and Global priorities.
  • Act as final decision authority for technology trade-offs, prioritization, and sequencing of initiatives.
  • Shape how technology enables business strategy, customer engagement models, and operating efficiency — beyond individual projects.
  • Influence enterprise decisions by representing Mexico’s needs, risks, and opportunities at Hub and Global levels.

Portfolio Ownership & Value Accountability

  • Own the end-to-end value realization of the Tech portfolio, accountable for outcomes, not only delivery.
  • Decide where to invest, scale, pause, or stop initiatives based on business impact, capacity, and strategic fit.
  • Ensure strong governance, risk management, and architectural alignment across the affiliate portfolio.
  • Delegate execution while retaining accountability for results.

Transformation, AI & Future Capabilities

  • Define the digital, data, and AI ambition for the Mexico Affiliate, including the prioritization of strategic use cases.
  • Sponsor and govern transformation programs that materially change how the affiliate operates and competes.
  • Ensure responsible, scalable, and secure adoption of AI and automation capabilities.
  • Drive mindset shift at leadership level toward simplification, standardization, and data-driven decision-making.

Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A)

  • Define and execute the affiliate’s BI&A strategy, with hands‑on involvement in shaping analytics approaches and ensuring alignment with business objectives and Hub, regional, and global priorities.
  • Translate business needs into a pragmatic BI&A roadmap, actively guiding delivery teams and personally engaging in key use cases from problem framing through insight generation.
  • Lead and directly contribute to advanced and predictive analytics initiatives, including hands‑on experience with forecasting, segmentation, propensity modeling, scenario analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Establish and actively manage data governance and data quality practices, with practical experience addressing real data issues, defining ownership, and ensuring compliant, reliable datasets.
  • Drive adoption of self‑service BI and analytics solutions by working closely with business users, enabling practical usage of insights and fostering a strong, action‑oriented data‑driven culture.

Organizational & Talent Leadership

  • Design and evolve the Tech organizational model, ensuring the right capabilities, roles, and leadership depth.
  • Build strong succession pipelines for critical roles and ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Serve as a coach and developer of senior leaders within the Tech organization.
  • Be accountable for engagement, retention, and performance outcomes at organizational level.

Executive Stakeholder & Governance Leadership

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the Affiliate GM and leadership team.
  • Represent Mexico Tech@Lilly in Hub, IBU, and Global governance bodies.
  • Influence without authority across complex, matrixed environments to drive enterprise outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • 12+ years of experience in Technology / Digital / IT roles with progressive leadership responsibility.
