About the Role

You will manage the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring the efficient sourcing of goods and services that meet organizational needs. You will secure value for money through effective supplier management, market research, and strong negotiation. You will also ensure timely delivery, maintain accurate documentation, and coordinate clearly with internal teams.

Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Market Research 

  • Conduct market research to ensure all goods and services are sourced at the best possible value for money.
  • Perform continuous research to expand and reinforce the organization’s supplier database.
  • Assess market price trends to quantify and report financial savings achieved by the team.
  • Eliminate middlemen by identifying and building direct, strategic partnerships with upstream suppliers.

Purchasing & Negotiation

  • Manage the end-to-end purchase cycle for the Zambia program, including RFQs, supplier evaluation, selection, and purchasing
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and payment terms to secure significant cost savings.
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure timely payment to all suppliers.
  • Support broader procurement goals through specialized category management activities.

Deliveries and Stakeholder Communication

  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services according to agreed timelines.
  • Collect and submit all required procurement documentation accurately and on time.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by providing proactive, consistent updates to internal clients regarding their requests.

Systems, Processes & Catalog Excellence

  • Support procurement planning with internal teams.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance purchasing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure clarity and standardization in purchase requests.
  • Take full ownership of the Zambia Vendor Catalog, including data entry, contact maintenance, and quarterly audits.
  • Streamline the catalog by identifying active vendors and eliminating inactive or redundant entries

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

Required Education & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Fully registered and valid practicing license from the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in a procurement role
  • ERP Proficiency: Experience working within SAP or a similar enterprise resource planning system is essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Zambian market and local procurement regulations.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Negotiation: The ability to influence vendors and secure terms that favor the organization's bottom line.
  • Data-Driven Analysis: Proficiency in using market data to estimate savings and drive purchasing decisions.
