Team Leader – Family Violence Services

The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s most trusted providers of family violence support. Our Mackay Family Violence Service delivers outreach, after‑hours response, case management, and specialist interventions that empower women and children to rebuild safety, stability, and independence.

As our Team Leader, you’ll guide a committed team, strengthen service delivery, and ensure our programs continue to meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and impact. This is a role for a values‑driven leader who is confident, practice‑strong, and ready to influence meaningful change.

About the Role

The Salvation Army’s North QLD Family Violence Services is seeking an experienced and compassionate Team Leader to provide leadership across our family violence outreach programs.

You will lead and support a dedicated team delivering specialist case management and/or crisis interventions for women and children experiencing or escaping family violence. You’ll ensure services are trauma‑informed, child‑focused and grounded in best practice, while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Woking closely with the Regional Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day service delivery, support staff capability and wellbeing, maintain strong community and sector partnerships, and contribute to high-quality outcomes for victim-survivors.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead and support a team of case workers and support workers to deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed family violence services
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring services meet internal standards, legislative requirements and funding obligations
  • Provide reflective supervision, coaching and guidance to build team capability and resilience
  • Support intake, assessment and case management processes through evidence-based interventions for women and children
  • Monitor service performance, quality, risk and compliance, escalating issues appropriately
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, community partners and sector networks to enhance service reach and impact
  • Contribute to program development, service improvements and implementation of practice frameworks
  • Ensure accurate client records, reporting and data integrity
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive service environment that nurtures a high-performing team culture

What You Will Bring

  • Degree qualification in Social Work or related field(essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in the family violence sector, including case management and residential or outreach services
  • Experience leading or supervising staff in a community services environment
  • Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Highly effective communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience managing budgets, resources and service performance
  • Ability to work collaboratively, think critically and respond effectively in complex situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems
  • Current Working with Children Check and QLD Driver’s Licence
