As Team Leader of Engineering on the Marketing Technology team, you'll lead a talented group of application developers building enterprise-scale, high-performing email solutions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. You'll be a servant leader and strategic technical thought partner—combining deep hands-on email expertise with people leadership to deliver innovative, personalized emails that drive engagement and measurable outcomes.

You'll grow your team while staying deeply connected to the craft, building trust through coaching, technical guidance and accountability. You'll build trust with your tenured team members while providing coaching, technical guidance, and accountability to ensure high-quality deliverables. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving high-priority initiatives, maintaining team velocity, and fostering an environment where team members feel motivated and empowered to excel.

About the Role

  • Lead and mentor an Agile team of application developers focused on email and cloud page development in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Define and own technical strategy, architecture and standards for enterprise email activations, templates, and deployment

  • Establish trust and credibility with a tenured team of talented engineers through hands-on coaching and technical guidance

  • Leverage expertise in email sending, security protocols (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), authentication and deliverability to guide the team

  • Drive adoption of reusable email templates, components and frameworks that scale across campaigns

  • Conduct code reviews and maintain code quality and engineering standards

  • Stay on top of email industry trends, emerging technologies and AI applications; bring forward-thinking ideas to the team

  • Partner with Deliverability, Analytics and Content teams to optimize send performance and engagement metrics

  • Participate in team planning sessions and ensure accountability for deliverables and timelines

  • Balance hands-on technical assistance with empowering team members to grow and take ownership

  • Coordinate incident response and root-cause analysis for production sends; implement long-term mitigations

  • Foster a culture of quality, craftsmanship, continuous learning and innovation

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years marketing technology or technical leadership experience

  • 5+ years email development experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Expert in HTML/CSS, AMPscript and SSJS with strong understanding of email data models and SFMC

  • Demonstrated expertise in email sending, deliverability, security protocols and best practices

  • Proven ability to lead tenured engineering teams and build trust through coaching and technical guidance

  • Strong understanding of email segmentation logic and cross-system data flows

  • Track record of driving quality, efficiency and technical excellence

  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills

  • Ability to motivate experienced team members and drive accountability

  • Ability to quickly context-switch and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years email development experience with exposure to complex enterprise systems and high-volume sends

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification or higher

  • Background leading teams responsible for client-facing applications and experiences

  • Expertise in email security, authentication and reputation management

  • Experience integrating SFMC with Salesforce CRM systems and external data sources

  • Track record of improving team performance and velocity

  • Experience balancing hands-on technical guidance with leadership responsibilities

  • History of successfully coaching and developing engineering talent

  • Familiarity with mobile messaging channels (SMS, Push) and omnichannel orchestration

  • Passion for innovation and emerging technologies (AI in email, advanced personalization, predictive optimization)

  • Experience in Financial Services or large, regulated brands navigating complex enterprise systems
