Reporting to the Group Manager, the main purpose of this role is to lead a Workers Compensation claims team to achieve strong outcomes and oversee the day-to-day work activities and ongoing development of the team. The role supports portfolios including Guild Insurance, Trinity and Hospitality Industry Insurance, working closely with stakeholders across a range of industries to deliver quality claims management and positive return to work outcomes for injured workers.

Through strong leadership, you will guide your team in delivering effective claims management while balancing the needs of workers, employers and scheme stakeholders.

This will be a permanent, full-time position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clarify and manage key stakeholder expectations and allocate appropriate resources to ensure the delivery of effective outcomes

  • Ensure team members achieve performance and KRA targets as set out under the BU performance framework

  • Utilise appropriate feedback to identify, oversee and foster an efficient, collaborative and effective customer-centric operating model

  • Identify and evaluate individual and organisational development needs and deliver individual and group learning and development programs

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation, maintaining awareness of industry developments and trends

  • Monitor, evaluate and review staff workloads and conduct performance appraisals for team members

  • Effectively manage team resources and priorities across the portfolio

  • Ensure appropriate strategies are in place to maximise performance revenue and use reporting insights to improve outcomes

  • Resolve disputes, complaints and escalations effectively

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience leading, mentoring and coaching individuals and/or teams to achieve desired results

  • Demonstrated experience building effective and professional client relationships

  • Exceptional time management, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues and develop and implement effective solutions

  • Passion for building and maintaining successful business relationships with clients, including addressing and resolving issues as they arise

  • Excellent knowledge of injury management, premium calculation and cost of claims

  • Sound understanding of relevant NSW Workers Compensation legislation and specialised insurer requirements
