THE ROLE:
 

We have an exciting leadership opportunity in our Financial Reporting team. Reporting to the Controller, you will oversee our Accounting team’s delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual), as well as technical memos and root cause analysis. In this role, you will drive continuous improvement, mentor team members, and provide strategic recommendations to the Controller.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

 

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reports to internal and external stakeholders

  • Oversee the preparation of technical accounting memos, including position papers on complex accounting issues

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and identifying development opportunities

Process Improvement & Analysis

  • Identify root causes of reporting discrepancies or inefficiencies, and lead initiatives to streamline processes and enhance accuracy

  • Implement best practices and automation tools to improve reporting efficiency and data integrity

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial policies and procedures

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a key liaison between the accounting team auditors, and other key stakeholders

  • Present financial results and analysis to leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation required

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role

  • Expertise in IFRS and financial reporting standards

  • Excellent understanding of oil and gas operations and Joint Venture accounting

  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. SAP), Workiva and Microsoft Excel

  • Systems-minded accountant with a passion for leveraging technology and process optimization to drive efficiency and accuracy across the Finance function

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions independently

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration and open communication
