As Team Lead Controllership at JLL, you'll orchestrate the financial heartbeat of our client operations by leading a dynamic accounting team through complex monthly closes, balance sheet reconciliations, and revenue recognition processes. This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting excellence and people leadership, where you'll guide your team through client transitions, ensure compliance with financial controls, and deliver insightful analysis that drives business decisions. This position demands both strategic thinking and hands-on involvement, as you'll balance coaching your team's development with rolling up your sleeves to tackle complex reconciliations, tax adjustments, and financial reporting challenges that keep our client relationships strong and our operations running seamlessly.
Lead and coordinate an accounting team through monthly close cycles, ensuring timely delivery and ownership of the team's Monthly Scorecard metrics
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned clients, including detailed Balance Sheet Review (BSR) processes that maintain financial accuracy
Oversee revenue recognition activities and ensure strict compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards
Monitor spending patterns and account allocations, providing insightful variance analysis and financial support to assigned clients and operational teams
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of controllership processes across client portfolios and team workflows
Manage client transitions and onboarding of new accounts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth financial integration
Prepare and analyze federal income tax withholding adjustments, uncollectible accounts reserves, and other complex accounting entries
Reconcile billing reports, travel & expense submissions, and payroll data against accounting records to maintain data integrity
Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and promoting formal training opportunities that advance career growth
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment with exposure to P&L analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and monthly closing processes
2+ years of demonstrated people leadership experience, including team coordination and performance management
Intermediate to advanced English proficiency for effective communication with global teams and stakeholders
Strong technical proficiency with accounting systems, with PeopleSoft experience highly preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for financial modeling and analysis
Proven ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including facility managers, project managers, finance teams, and vendors
Experience managing billing processes and tax-related accounting requirements
Previous controllership or financial consulting experience in professional services or corporate environments
Deep expertise with PeopleSoft financial modules and reporting capabilities
Portuguese language proficiency to support regional client relationships
Track record of successfully leading client transitions and implementing new financial processes
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build trusted advisor relationships
Experience in commercial real estate, property management, or facilities management financial operations
Background in developing and implementing process improvement initiatives that drive efficiency and accuracy
