ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Teaching Assistant will work with faculty and students performing teaching or teaching-related duties such as

  • Supporting students during laboratory / workshop activities and homework assignments
  • Developing teaching materials
  • Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups
  • Supporting delivery of online lessons and development of materials for the CANVAS virtual learning platform
  • Prepare materials and equipment for laboratory and studio sessions
  • Prepare materials for Program-related activities such as workshops, film screenings, and film festivals
  • Reports to: Class Lecturer

KEY ACCOUNTIBILITIES 

  • Prepare teaching materials and organise workshop spaces in preparation for classes
  • Develop in-class activities
  • Support students in understanding their class assignments and assessments
  • Assist the lecturer with workshop sessions and supervise open access in workshops and labs
  • Provide more detail on material covered in-class to support students understanding
  • Other duties commensurate with the scope of the role

OUR REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum, Master’s Degree in relevant discipline preferrable
  • Ability to explain a complex problem in terms that are easy to understand and comprehend
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing environment and situations
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a background check.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, RMIT Values and RMIT Leadership Model.

All academic appointments at RMIT Vietnam must meet University and local regulatory requirements, including English proficiency, background checks, and (for international candidates) eligibility for a work permit.   

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 7.0 with no competency less than 6.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
