This is a School-Based Location Employee
There are multiple openings, both full time and part time, available throughout the district at various school and grade levels. After you apply you will interview with separate schools of your choice.
School Social Workers in the Douglas County School District serve students across all levels (PK-12) who require universal, targeted and intensive intervention across special education and general education populations. The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to enhance the interconnectedness of home, school community and student academic, social, behavioral and emotional success.
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts, to help children who face problems such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty.
Provide assistance and or referrals for students, families, or staff regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, or medical care.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Refer clients to community resources for services such as assessment services and how to apply.
Support students through building the capacity of family members, other school staff, and community agencies. Support and establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students in order to alleviate barriers to learning.
Counsel parents with concerns or problems, interviewing the child and family to determine whether further action is required.
Respond to referrals and or reported cases from teachers, administrators, other school personnel, parents, students, self, and community agencies (Department of Human Services).
Create, organize and update case history records and prepare reports, according to deadlines.
Engage students as individuals with unique interests and strengths and promote student success at the student's developmental level.
Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned
Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions.
