The Tax Intern role will report directly to The Tax Manager with the Tax & Treasury department. This part-time position requires at least 20 hours/week and would last for 6 months with the potential to extend to 12 months or beyond.

The Role:

The intern for this opportunity is expected to have an interest in learning about multi-state and local taxation compliance, reporting and analysis.  They will need to have a sense of ownership in projects, and an ability to perform tax-related tasks.  They will be responsible for assisting with the following duties to support the tax compliance across the organization:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/file simple sales and use tax returns

  • Pull various reports for use tax analysis

  • Organize and manage tax notices, draft responses, send correspondence to state/local jurisdictions

  • Prepare property tax return forms using fixed asset summary schedules

  • Prepare business license renewal applications

  • Register for new tax accounts online, update resale and other tax certificates

  • Submit and record state and local tax payments with supporting documentation

Education and/or Certification:

  • Junior/Senior in undergraduate accounting program

  • Graduate school student with business program

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt to new systems and the changing needs of a growing business

  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Proficient in Adobe and MS Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel

  • Curious and passionate about the work we are doing

Work Environment:

  • 20+ hours/week

  • Hours of operation are subject to change based on the needs of the business
