Your impact

As a Tax Compliance Accountant you will report to the Senior Tax Manager, taking responsibility for supporting corporate tax compliance for the main UK legal entity and its subsidiaries including preparation of all aspects of the corporate tax compliance cycle and statutory reporting, liaising with other internal functions including finance, commercial, and external tax advisors. This position involves contacts across multiple divisions in the UK and Italy, including the Head Office Corporate Tax team and external advisors. This position involves contacts across multiple divisions in the UK and Italy, including the Head Office Corporate Tax team and external advisors.

The key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Collating information from the divisional SAP systems and carrying out detailed analysis for all corporate tax returns including UK, overseas branches, and Permanent Establishments.
  • Extraction and analysis of data used for the annual Research & Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) and Patent Box claim for Leonardo UK Ltd and for organising meetings with partners in the business and with advisors.
  • Ensuring all Corporate Income Tax payments made on a timely basis for all jurisdictions and all posting of journals and reconciliations of the tax accounts is done in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions and input into Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Assist with preparation of documentation to support the Senior Accounting Officer requirements and support audit requests as required.
  • Assist in the provision of documentation and maintenance of the annual UK Transfer Pricing report and documentation.
  • Collate and prepare information to comply with Controlled Foreign Companies and Country by Country Reporting requirements.
  • Liaison and support to other departments on technical tax matters including corporate tax advice at bid stage.
  • Support the internal forecasting process and be a contact with relevant stakeholders.
  • Minimise exposure to penalties or additional tax arising from late lodgement of returns, taxation audits or mis-declaration penalties. Assist in the production and, where applicable, the updating of the documentation of the Tax Team’s processes and evidence/support of tax treatments.
  • Prepare information to respond to Law 262 internal audit and external audits.
  • Support the wider tax team as necessary.

What you'll bring

·       Professionally qualified/part qualified compliance specialist with relevant experience.

·       Good IT skills including knowledge of SAP/ERP or equivalent systems.

·       Significant attention to detail, strong communication and influencing skills.

·       Able to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels of the business and to various stakeholder groups.

·       Strong focus on governance and controls.

·       UK corporate tax, reporting and forecasting experience. Should be proficient in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

·       Ability to work to tight deadlines.

·       Analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Flexible working style with the ability to multi-task.

·       Motivated team player who is willing to be hands-on.

·       Support package available towards professional tax/accounting qualification training programme.
