Tax and Estate Planner

Join our dynamic team as Tax and Estate Planner in this newly created role supporting the Dealer and our Insurance division. In this role, the incumbent will have the unique opportunity to provide a consultative approach to supporting advisors, insurance consultants, and clients on tax, estate planning and the associated complexities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation on complex tax and estate planning concepts and strategies for HNW clients and complex scenarios.

  • Conduct a detailed discovery to understand the client and uncover issues and opportunities for further exploration.

  • Develop customized plans for clients, integrating the expertise of financial planning, estate, tax and business planning and identifying cross-sales and growth opportunities

  • Present plans and strategies to clients and advisors in a manner that is easily understood and influences implementation.

  • Work collaboratively with Centralized Planners, Advisors, and Insurance Consultants to provide specialized advice for HNW clients.

  • Act a subject matter expert on tax and estate planning in support of initiatives, resources, and collateral.

  • Explain rules, regulations and concepts to clients and advisors relating to personal, corporate and trust income tax, trusts and estates. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate wealth planning with other financial services offered by the organization.

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and market trends to ensure cutting-edge service offerings.

  • Liaise and maintain relationships with external advisors, industry peers, key partner vendors and other professional service providers.

  • Deliver presentations and webinars to advisors, clients, and internal partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingual French and English

  • Knowledge in both common and civil law   

  • Chartered Accounting (CA) designation, or Legal designation (LLB).

  • Completion of the CICA In Depth Tax Course or similar course of study.

  • Expertise in personal, trusts, estates and corporate tax gained through relevant accounting, legal or financial services experience (5 to 7 year minimum).

  • Strong tax, retirement and estate planning analytical skills and reasoning.

  • Ability to apply specialized knowledge to practically implement planning solutions.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building and management.

  • Creative/innovative thinking applied to individual client contexts.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary range is expected to be between

$125,100.00 CAD - $175,100.00 CAD
