Tailings Operator

We're looking for skilled Tailings Operators to become part of our Coarse Tailings Maintenance team. If you’re passionate about hands-on work and want to make a real impact, this is your opportunity! In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our operations—ensuring the integrity and reliability of our tailings lines that support production. Your day-to-day will include dismantling, repairing, rotating, and installing tailings line piping, all while following engineering scopes, safety standards, work practices and site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year experience with operating equipment (side boom (pipe layer), fork loader, tele handler, skid steer loader, transporter, excavator and grader) in industries such as mining, civil earthworks, pipelines, sawmills, pulp and paper mills or manufacturing, or highway construction

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and service tailings lines consisting of 30’ lined piping and 28’ steel piping and components

  • Operate tailings maintenance equipment once qualified, including side boom (pipe layer), fork loader, tele handler, skid steer loader, transporter, excavator and grader

  • Assist with preparing materials, tools, and equipment required for tailings line work

  • Travel within a large work area, driving between work areas as required

  • Follow all site safety, environmental, and operational work practices and standards

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • This position is safety sensitive

  • You will be required to perform physical manual labor which include some heavy lifting, operate heavy equipment, and work outdoors year-round in diverse and potentially harsh weather condition
