Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Systems Test Engineer (Level 2) / Principal Systems Test Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

In this role, the Systems Test Engineer will join the Global Surveillance Division supporting day-to-day operation of the AISR&T-RQ4 Enterprise. You will support an experienced and diverse team responsible for providing support for all system test activities, to include test planning, creation of required test procedures, post test data analysis, creation of problem reports, and reporting on test results. This role requires a proactive individual who is willing to multi-task frequently and work in a dynamic environment.

Note: This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for development and execution of software test cases to verify subsystem functional requirements.

  • Developing robust nominal & off-nominal software test cases centered on improving the user experience

  • Independently manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Actively identify and implement opportunities for process improvement

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at a Systems Test Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Systems Test Engineer (Level 3) level based on the qualifications below.

Systems Test Engineer (Level 2)

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Experience supporting the software development lifecycle.

  • Professional experience working within System Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering environments

Principal Systems Test Engineer (Level 3)

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Experience supporting the software development lifecycle.

  • Professional experience working within System Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience writing Python scripts

  • Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems & Virtual Machines (VMs)

  • Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and ClearQuest)

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)

  • Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks

  • Experience with Java, C++, or Python

  • Experience with Comms & Networking

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
