Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer Test Analyst – Level 3 or 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located full-time on-site at the MDA customer facility, at Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, AL. There is no opportunity for remote work with this position.
Job Description:
The Systems Engineering and Integration Team is seeking a Systems Engineer Test Analyst. This position’s primary role will be representing the SE&IT by supporting MDA/DE-SEA (Enterprise Analysis & Technical Innovation) and its role within the MDA Joint Analysis Team (JAT). In the test analyst role, the candidate will perform Missile Defense System (MDS) performance analysis of test data generated primarily by the MDA Ground Test (HWIL) program. The candidate may also support analysis of MDA Flight Test program events and Real-World Event data. This position operates in a classified environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing approaches to, along with tools to support, executing System-level and Element-level performance analysis on the complex Missile Defense System (MDS).
- Producing analysis results and inputs to the official SEA test reporting products and for presentation during data reviews.
- Presentation of analysis results on behalf of the SEA customer
- Working with associated Systems Engineering (SE) teams, Test Organizations, Warfighters and Element Program focals to ensure MDS tests meet technical intent, system capabilities, and behaviors.
- Develop, utilize and present analytical products with the intent of assessing strategic and/or theater/regional element system level performance of the MDS in ground test and flight test events.
- Perform analysis on all elements of the MDS, with a focus on System-Level behaviors.

Basic Qualifications (BQs):
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer – Level 3 or a Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4.
Basic Qualifications:
- Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Systems – Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's STEM Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a STEM PhD Degree.
- Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Software Engineer – Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related work experience, or a Master's STEM Degree and 6 years of related work experience, or 4 years of related work experience with a STEM PhD Degree.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools that assess the system level performance of a kill chain including sensor acquisition, tracking, and discrimination
- Familiarity with battle manager engagement planning, warfighter interaction, and engagement coordination with other MDS systems
- Familiarity with interceptor acquisition, tracking, and discrimination.
- Ability to develop tools to support analytical tasks and a desire to learn about MDS elements and the ability to apply an understanding of element behavior to a System-Level analytical perspective
- Knowledge of analytical approaches and demonstrated analytical skills and discipline
- Ability to work effectively in a classified on-site environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong Systems Engineering or MDA analysis background
- Demonstrated collaboration and presentation skills
- System Level interface design and specification development experience
- Knowledge of the Missile Defense System
- Working knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, Jupiter Notebooks, Tableau, and similar analysis tools
- Familiarity with System Level analysis and testing
- Familiarity with Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS) behavior (e.g. engagement planning) and/or other lower-tier Weapon Systems and Sensors strongly desired.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
