About The Position


The Sustainability Program Specialist will work closely with business segments and departments to collect and analyze data and information about sustainability initiatives across Ameren. As part of the corporate environmental and sustainability department team, the Specialist will develop and implement Ameren's ESG reporting processes, environmental compliance tracking and reporting, and provide sustainability program support. The Specialist will be self-motived, analytically minded, and have exceptional written communication skills and experience in corporate sustainability to develop compelling content for internal and external reporting. The Specialist will also provide research and analysis of environmental and sustainability data as assigned.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Aggregate, synthesize, and provide data for various sustainability reports (e.g., EEI ESG/Sustainability Template, SASB, GRI, TCFD and Sustainability Report) and various sustainability surveys (e.g., MSCI and Sustainalytics).

  • Gather, compile, track and analyze sustainability data and improve data collection and analysis processes as needed. Develop benchmarking comparisons to other peer utilities.

  • Develop standard operating procedures implementing best practices for reporting ESG/sustainability metrics.

  • Participate in external sustainability groups to learn best-practice.

  • Participate in sustainability reporting initiatives (e.g. Sustainability Report, St. Louis Green Business Challenge, EPRI Sustainability Benchmarking, etc.) as part of a larger team and prepare reports to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Actively contribute to development and enhancement of the overall Sustainability/ESG Program by conducting related research, program analyses, and benchmarking programs.

  • Facilitate meetings and/or attend networking opportunities and represent Ameren at meetings and professional gatherings.

  • Through collaboration with others, develop and implement sustainability program initiatives.

  • Lead and support business and company materiality/priority assessments that inform business strategies and sustainability commitments.

  • Help coordinate Sustainability Executive Steering Committee activities and engage in corporate level Sustainability key initiatives as assigned.

  • Maintain the internal sustainability website with routine updates, information sharing, and other activities. Support other company sustainability related communications plans.

  • Coordinate Ameren corporate sustainability and environmental event planning and management as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Sustainability, Economics, Business or other related field from an accredited college or university required.

  • Three (3) years or more of professional experience (including co-op or internship experience) is required (e.g. sustainability, environmental, etc.).

  • Advanced degree in sustainability or environmental may be considered in lieu of experience.

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis of environmental data and/or sustainability topics is preferred.

  • Prior experience with ESG and sustainability or environmental management system data platforms, databases, and tools is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Sustainability, Economics, Business or other related field from an accredited college or university required.

  • Advanced degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering/Science, Environmental Policy, MBA or related field is preferred. 

  • Five (5) years or more of relevant professional experience (including co-op or internship experience) required (e.g., sustainability, environmental, etc.).

  • Advanced degree in sustainability or environmental may be considered in lieu of experience.

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis of environmental data and/or sustainability topics is preferred.

  • Prior experience with ESG and sustainability or environmental management system data platforms, databases, and tools is a plus.

Additional Information:
Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided for qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$71,100.00 - $137,200.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
