The Sustainability Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the FTI’s environmental sustainability strategy. This role focuses on integrating sustainability initiatives into business operations through collaboration with functional partners and subject-matter experts. The Sustainability Manager will contribute to analyzing, reporting and communicating performance related to greenhouse gas emissions and other sustainability priorities, and will help translate complex environmental topics into clear, actionable messaging for internal and external stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or climate-related roles in a corporate setting
Experience leading projects, workstreams, or cross-functional initiatives; prior people management a plus but not required
Working knowledge of sustainability frameworks such as TCFD, IFRS, CDP
Familiarity with LEED certification processes and requirements
Experience with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
Experience managing and writing sustainability disclosures
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex sustainability topics to non-technical audiences
Travel: Up to 10%
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the development and execution of the FTI’s environmental sustainability strategy and annual goals.
Enable cross-division collaboration so product decisions and documentation support the end-to-end energy solutions delivered by FTI.
Manage tracking, analysis, and reporting of Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Establish Scope 3 emissions tracking and reporting.
Lead sustainable product design standards and review gates; translate environmental goals into product requirements (materials, energy use, durability, reparability, endoflife).
Assist with sustainability performance assessments, gap analyses, and the development of action plans to support short- and long-term goals.
Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Engineering, Procurement) to integrate sustainability initiatives into business processes.
Support LEED-related initiatives, certifications, and compliance activities as applicable.
Own LCA/EPD roadmap for priority products: define scope, coordinate data collection with engineering/manufacturing, manage partnerships with external verifiers/program operators, and publish digital EPDs; maintain annual updates for competitiveness.
Drive Net Zero Energy certification efforts for applicable projects, ensuring design and documentation meet certification criteria.
Develop clear, audience-appropriate sustainability communications for internal stakeholders, leadership, and external audiences.
Support alignment with recognized sustainability frameworks and reporting standards.
Participate in sustainability-related industry forums, internal committees, or working groups as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
