Bellroy

Sustainability Manager

Collingwood, Victoria, Australia Part Time

IN A NUTSHELL…

Our mission is to inspire better ways to carry, use business as a force for good, and help the world and our crew flourish. We're proud to be part of the B Corp movement and are constantly pursuing better ways to reduce our environmental impact, but we're not interested in doing the bare minimum.

We're preparing for B Corp recertification under their new standards in December 2027, navigating emerging climate reporting requirements, and expanding globally into retail. We need someone to own our sustainability roadmap: driving compliance, yes, but also pushing our thinking forward and helping us tell the story of what we're doing and why it matters.

You'll sit within People and Culture, report to our Chief People Officer, and work across Bellroy to get things done. Our Project Management Office will provide governance and project management and you will bring the subject matter knowledge and make the work happen. This isn't a role where you report on someone else's plan. You'll own the roadmap, identify what's coming before it becomes urgent, and influence how sustainability shows up in the way Bellroy operates day to day.

You'll also identify and manage key industry partnerships that strengthen our impact, and lead the development of our Good Business Report; how we share what we're doing with the world.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…

  • Experience in sustainability strategy and compliance in a retail, consumer products, or similar business, you've done this work before and have a feel for what good looks like
  • Knowledge of the relevant compliance frameworks, including B Corp, Modern Slavery Act, climate reporting, and social compliance measures - you don't need to be the deepest technical expert, but you can get across complex requirements quickly and know when to dig deeper
  • Strong communication skills that allow you to translate regulatory obligations into clear actions, influence stakeholders without authority, and can convey a compelling narrative for various audiences
  • A solutions-driven and practical mindset - you can take a great-sounding idea, assess whether it's realistic, and either move it to action or push back with tact
  • Genuine curiosity about the sustainability landscape - you read widely, stay across what's happening and bring that thinking to the business proactively
  • The discipline to meet compliance deadlines accurately and on time, but are creative enough to push beyond "good enough"
  • A structured approach to managing work across multiple workstreams, you can spot risks early, flag what's not tracking, and keep things moving
  • Comfort with ambiguity, you can hold the big picture while chasing down the details.

Even if you don't tick every box, if you're excited by the idea of embedding sustainability into a growing global business that actually cares, we'd love to hear from you.

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST MONTH, YOU MIGHT HAVE…

  • Reviewed our B Corp recertification timeline with the PMO and flagged two areas where we need to start work earlier than planned
  • Drafted the first outline of a climate reporting approach for leadership review
  • Had a coffee with someone from marketing to talk about how we tell our sustainability story without sounding like every other brand
  • Spent an hour reading up on emerging EU regulations and sent a quick Slack summary to the CPO: "Here's what I think we should be watching"
  • Worked with the People Experience team on updates to our office sustainability practices
  • Reviewed our matched giving program and started researching alternatives that better align with where we're heading
  • Kicked off our Modern Slavery Statement work by meeting with legal and the production team to map out what we need and who's doing what
  • Started pulling together content for the next edition of our Good Business Report
