The opportunity

As the Sustainability Controls Assurance manager, you will lead the development and extension of a control assurance framework in across the Sustainability function and for sustainability disclosures.  This is a high‑visibility role suited to someone who thrives in complex environments, builds strong relationships, and brings deep expertise in ESG assurance, risk, and internal control.

Your new role

  • Play a pivotal role in designing, enhancing, and overseeing QBE’s sustainability control and assurance framework.

  • Partner across Sustainability, Statutory Reporting, Risk, Internal Audit and the business

  • Lead the development of a robust governance environment that keeps pace with emerging regulatory standards and QBE’s strategic ambitions

  • Provide strategic oversight of sustainability data quality, disclosures, and control testing across global business units

  • Drive improvements in sustainability reporting processes

  • Identify emerging sustainability risks, advising on control remediation, and supporting cross‑functional teams through issue management.

  • Act as a senior escalation point to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

  • Lead any sustainability internal audit engagements

  • Champion best‑practice sustainability governance and helping embed strong risk culture across Sustainability.

  • Ensure compliance with reporting timeframes, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proactively identify improvements that can be made to data quality, processes and methodology of GHG emissions calculations and update relevant policy documents as calculations are developed and refined

About you

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with prior experience in the development of reporting processes and systems. You will also have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities and an ability to work systematically through complex matters.

  • A hands-on approach to achieving required outcomes and improving the processes used to achieve those outcomes.

  • An ability to produce high quality outputs whilst working to tight deadlines and under pressure.

  • Strong skills in excel, word, power point and the ability to quickly become highly efficient in the use of new systems.

  • Experience working as part of a global organisation would be highly advantageous
