Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Call rotation required. BLS required. Department regular hours of operation M-F 6:30am - 6:00pm. Holiday rotation required. Prefer minimum 2 years current Endoscopy / Surgical Technician experience. Shift start time primarily rotates between 6:30 am thru 8:00 am with scheduled end time of 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm.

Pay Range

$26.55 - $39.85

Major Responsibilities: Demonstrates adherence to standards of Infection Control. 1)Proper attire is worn, inclusive of personal protective equipment. 2)Demonstrates adherence to aseptic techniques. 3)Demonstrates adherence to sterile techniques, with breaks in technique addressed properly. 4)Sterile items are checked for integrity of packaging. 5)Accurately documents use of sterilizers. Ensures a safe and secure environment through interventions and routine observations. 1)Demonstrates working knowledge of all equipment and instrumentation, reporting any deficiencies to the appropriate individuals. 2)Protects patients during the operative phase through use of such items as safety straps, grounding pads, positioning devices, etc. 3)Restocks room supplies daily and as needed and prepares cases for the following day. 4)Counts with RN; instruments, sponges, and needles according to policy and procedure. 5)Handles specimens according to policy and procedure. 6)Identifies and investigates routine problems, taking appropriate steps toward problem resolution. 7)Actively turns cases over without delay. 8)Communicates to material supply coordinator any and all requests/issues from physicians regarding supplies, instruments, and/or special needs. Demonstrates ability to perform scrub duties as listed on the attached addendum. Delivers patient care under the guidance of the registered nurse 1)Utilizes preference cards to properly prepare for a case to ensure that all items are available 2)Reports untoward condition of patient to other healthcare providers in a timely fashion. 3)Communicates with intra and interdepartmental personnel and other care givers to ensure a continuum of care. Development of skills and professionalism through self-participation in educational offerings and/or hospital-based committees and continuing education 2)Participates in departmental CQI activities. 1)Attends and completes all mandatory inservices and staff meetings to update patient care knowledge, theory, practice, infection control, and safety practices. Education/Experience Required: -High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) -Graduate of approved Surgical Technician program perferred -One year experience including all surgical specialties preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: -Clinically appropriate skills. -Ability to cooperate and work well with internal/external customers. -Meets Advocate behavioral expectations. -Certified in basic life support. -as of 02/01/2018, Certification in Surgical Technician within 6 months of hire Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: -Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations. -May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. -Ability to tolerate prolonged standing and walking. -Ability to transport patients from one location to another. -Ability to preform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50lbs. may be required). -Ability to participate in on-call duties including weekends and holidays. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
