Major Duties:

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, establish priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Makes changes in the organization of work and assignment of functions or duties to positions as necessary to fully use employee skills, accommodate changes in workload, improve work flow, reduce back logs and provide smooth flow distribution.
  • Provides advice and guidance on more complex/difficult matters of the military processing realm, provides instructions and guidance for operation of the automated system.
  • Examines completed actions to ensure and determine validity, propriety, accuracy, and adequacy of action taken.
  • Researches and uses performance measures/standards to evaluate and monitor operational performance of assigned functional area.
  • Gives informal training and cross-training on military pay entitlements, regulatory guidance, finance operating procedures and transactions processing.

Qualifications: ** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing. ** Awards SF-50 will not be accepted, as those do not contain required information. GS-08 QUALIFICATIONS One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex military payroll transactions, determining entitlements, examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy, reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated military payroll problems or issues using variety of techniques. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in Federal Service. GS-09 QUALIFICATIONS One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-08) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Applying expert-level knowledge of a large body of military pay rules, procedures and operations sufficient to process pay actions requiring audits, corrections, and adjustments of several interrelated aspects of military pay, sufficient to provide leadership, training and support to others responsible for this work, experience must include applying expert-level knowledge of related payroll systems sufficient to take necessary intervention and bypass of normal automated systems and procedures, and resolve issues within the automated systems. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-08 or higher grade in Federal Service.
