Major Duties:

  • NON APPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Supply Technician SERIES: 2005 PAY LEVEL: NF-03 INTRODUCTION: The primary function of this position is to provide appropriate specialized oversight of the submission maintenance and accountability of supply requisitions for nine separate child development centers, school age programs, youth and teen centers. Incumbent is responsible for performing supply management functions pertaining to food, equipment and supplies for Children, Youth and Teen Programs (CY&TP). Works under the direct supervision of the Chief of Children, Youth and Teen Programs. Carries out daily work in accordance with specific instructions and establishes procedures. Operates independently with supervisory assistance available to discuss problems or handle unusual situations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Establishes procedures for identifying and procuring supplies and equipment for 9 large geographically separate Children, Youth and Teen Program (CY&TP) centers. Additionally, develops contracts for purchase of equipment materials or services support to each center (i.e.: installations of playground equipment, purchase of collateral equipment). Supervises submission of 9 geographically separate CY&TP centers¿ procurement actions. This includes identifying procedures and training each center¿s clerical staff in proper submission procedures. Maintains tickler files to ensure expedient requisition procedures are accomplished. Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies. Verifies incoming supplies against the invoice and purchase request for accuracy of quantity, serviceability and correctness of item. Ensures that all items identified with a stock number, prior to placing on the shelf. Revises requirement quantities based on number of items on hand and established allowances. Identifies and addresses discrepancies. Reviews supporting documents and reference material to determine what special supply action is required. Completes appropriate and required clerical tasks such as receiving reports for receiving and issuing merchandise. Determines status of action on requirements and changes requirements and unexpected requirements. Drives van to pick-up food services supplies from commissary and troop issue; picks-up other supplies as needed; and delivers distributions. Performs driver maintenance to include inside and outside when needed, initiating automotive shop maintenance and repair. Assists Child Development centers and Youth and Teen centers in conducting and coordinating the preparation of all paperwork associated with periodical, e.g. month-end, year-end, inventory. Conducts research to resolve discrepant quantities identified during inventory and processes adjustment transactions to reconcile the inventory. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: BASIC REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; (Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) Must be able to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs independently and objects over 20 lbs with assistance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a health card. Must be able to obtain a ¿Favorable¿ CNACI background investigation including State Criminal History Repository (SCHR), Local Installation Record Checks (IRC), with re-verification every five years. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit is required for the performance of duties for this position. Inability to obtain or maintain appropriate GOV licensing will result in termination for lack of qualifications. The incumbent is required to obtain required GOV licenses within 30 days of hire. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMNTS: Practical working experience with automated supply systems and the ability to apply knowledge of the complex coding structures for specific supply transactions. Ability to conduct an extensive search for desired information in supporting records, publications, or files such as computer listings, technical orders, stock catalogs, previous history files, etc. Must have seasoned judgment in adapting guidelines and in making decisions where there are alternative courses of action within standardized procedures and requirements. Knowledge of equipment and other items of supply to take physical inventory. Knowledge of appropriate property disposal procedures. Working knowledge in Microsoft Office program to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. This position is designated as a Position of Trust, and the incumbent must be eligible for a background check. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under the age of 18. Applicants hired into flexible positions (0-40 hours per week) or regular position with a time-limited appointment will not lose their spouse preference eligibility until movement or hired into a regular full or part time position. The time period for MSP eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date to the new duty station, if accompanied, or at any time thereafter during the tour.
