Supply Chain Project Lead

Huntsman is seeking a Supply Chain Project Lead supporting globally within the Polyurethanes Division located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the PU Global Supply Chain Excellence Sr Manager in the Global Supply Chain leadership team.

Job Scope

The Supply Chain Project Lead leads cross-functional initiatives that improve service, cost, inventory, and productivity across planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and customer fulfillment. This role drives scope definition, planning, execution, governance, risk management, and stakeholder alignment to deliver measurable business outcomes on time and within budget.

In summary, as the Supply Chain Project Lead, you will:

Project delivery:

  • Lead end-to-end execution of supply chain projects (e.g., S&OP enhancements, planning transformations, logistics optimization, inventory reduction, network changes, master data/process standardization).

  • Build and manage integrated project plans, milestones, critical paths, budgets, and resource plans.

  • Facilitate project kickoffs, working sessions, and steering committee updates; maintain clear decisions, actions, and issue logs.

Stakeholder and change leadership:

  • Partner with Supply Chain leaders, Commercial, Finance, IT, and Plant/Operations teams to align on scope, priorities, and outcomes.

  • Drive change management: communications, training coordination, adoption plans, and hyper care stabilization.

  • Manage vendors/consultants (if applicable), including deliverables, timelines, and quality standards.

Process and performance improvement:

  • Apply structured problem-solving to remove bottlenecks and improve key KPIs (OTIF/service, lead time, forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, freight cost, DIO/working capital).

  • Define success metrics and benefits tracking; ensure improvements are sustained through standard work and governance.

Risk, issue, and dependency management:

  • Identify project risks and dependencies early; develop mitigation plans and escalate decisively.

  • Ensure appropriate controls, documentation, and compliance with internal standards (EHS, quality, financial controls, SOX where relevant).

Tools and reporting:

  • Own project reporting cadence and dashboards (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Power BI).

  • Maintain project documentation: charter, business case, RAID log, RACI, status reports, cutover plans, and lessons learned.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including sales, manufacturing, operations, finance, and senior management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, build strong relationships, and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels.

Organizational Relationships:

  • Member of Global Supply Chain Excellence organization / PMO to ensure alignment with standard practices and sustainability of implemented solutions globally.

  • Close collaboration with Global Senior management, regional demand management, Commercial teams, Business performance & finance teams, Site Managers, and Corporate (Legal, Credit, Purchasing).

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

Candidates must be willing to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our office located in AFZ, Heredia. Additional office days may be required as needed or during corporate visits.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience required:

  • 5+ years of project management experience, including supply chain or operations projects.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable outcomes.

  • Strong proficiency in project planning, governance, and executive-level communication.

Skills and knowledge

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and levels of the organization.

  • Strong problem-solving and structured analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A higher degree, such as a Master’s.

  • PMP/APICS/ASCM or similar certification.

  • Familiarity with ERP and planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and analytics tools (Power BI, SQL).

  • Experience in the specialty chemicals industry can be beneficial, particularly in understanding the specific challenges and opportunities of the industry.
