Position Summary
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) who will take ownership of supplier quality performance across our supply chain. This role is not administrative. You are expected to challenge suppliers, enforce standards, and drive measurable improvements.
You will ensure suppliers consistently meet Rolls-Royce Power Systems (mtu) quality expectations through qualification, process validation, and ongoing performance management. This includes being directly accountable for supplier audits, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will be doing:
Supplier Quality Management
• Develop and maintain supplier quality plans aligned with Rolls-Royce standards and regulatory requirements
• Define and enforce quality expectations across assigned suppliers
Supplier Qualification and Audits
• Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and capability evaluations
• Qualify new suppliers and re-qualify existing suppliers based on performance and risk
• Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal quality standards
Issue Resolution and Root Cause Analysis
• Lead investigations into supplier-related quality issues
• Drive root cause analysis using structured methodologies (e.g. 8D, RCA tools)
• Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions with suppliers
Performance Monitoring and Governance
• Track supplier KPIs such as defect rates, on-time delivery, and process capability
• Hold suppliers accountable for underperformance and enforce recovery plans
• Escalate critical issues where necessary
Continuous Improvement
• Partner with suppliers to implement process improvements and best practices
• Drive cost of poor quality reduction across the supply base
• Support capability development within the supplier network
New Product Introduction (NPI)
• Ensure supplier readiness for new product launches
• Validate manufacturing processes and quality controls before production
• Support PPAP, FAI, or equivalent qualification activities
Position requirements:
Education / Work Experience / Skills
• Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering
• Strong experience in supplier audits, quality systems, and process validation
• Hands-on experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
• Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent
• Experience working with global suppliers in manufacturing or engineering environments
