Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)’ is responsible for driving exceptional product quality from External suppliers to ensure customer value beyond expectations, regulatory assurance, and optimized Cost of Quality. This is a key technical position, affecting part quality for both installed base and New Product Introductions parts.
In nutshell, Supplier Quality Engineer is expected to deliver on supplier approval, qualification, quality sustenance and continuous improvement towards achieving best quality products on time every time in a compliant way
As a Supplier Quality Engineer - Casting & Machining, you will also be responsible for:
- Demonstrating leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via facilitating continuous process improvements at supplier facility
- Driving supplier approval through robust on boarding processes
- Driving and developing a strong QMS mind set at supplier site ; Accelerate improvements in supplier quality and deliver value
- Developing positive relationships and work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers
- Interfacing with Suppliers and Supply chain to drive Quality improvements
- Delivering results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement/effectiveness, and corrective & preventative action closure
- Driving improvements utilizing Supplier Scorecards and own Supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, and driving improvement plans
- Understanding and driving Lean, Six Sigma culture with suppliers / processes.
- Providing Quality Engineering expertise requiring advanced/specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise
- Specifying, developing, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
- Providing advanced Quality Engineering of new product introduction involving new processes or advanced automated equipment
- Providing technical expertise to customers/licensees in solving technical problems associated with test facilities
- Acting as consultant to the Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering organizations to improve Quality and Manufacturing processes, introduce new products and improve product design
- Specifying and developing product acceptance/test procedures that relate to a complex process (state-of-the-art) or highly complex product
- Providing leadership role during investigations of major problems and of special projects

To be successful in this role you will:
- Have bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Production/Automotive Engineering.
- Have 7+ years’ experience in quality / manufacturing / vendor development functions.
- Have hands on experience in Investment & Sand-casting processes, qualifications including dimensional inspections
- Have an ability to manage multiple qualifications and work with global teams to approve/qualify suppliers and improve their performance.
- Have an ability in reviewing documents and parts according to ASTM, PED, IEC, ANSI, CE, CSA, UL other international standards & Regulatory Requirements.
- Have an ability to understand and establish appropriate inspection/measurement system based on the geometry /tolerance and part profile.
- Have an ability to understand drawings, dimensioning and geometrical tolerancing (GT)
- Have hands on experience in one or more of these fields (Machining process, methods /techniques; Ability to prepare manufacturing process plan (MPP) for machining, by selecting process steps, suitable machines, conducting FMEA and preparing control plans; Knowledge on selection of tools & Fixtures; Strong knowledge about castings (investment, sand), Forgings processes /material; Experience in NDT techniques including RT, UT and LPI and knowledge about such testing machines
- Have a strong EHS background, familiar with India Environmental, health, and safety law and regulations
- Have a very Strong Result Oriented Mindset; and process improvement approach.
- Have an exposure to ISO 14001 and OSHAS Standards will be added advantage\
- Have an ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Have a highest Level of Integrity
- Willingness to travel for more than 50% of the time
- Have a strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Have an ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily, guide and influence others
- Sourcing experience /prior Oil & Gas Industry experience.
- Green Belt / Black Belt certified (GE employees only)
- Have an international Experience. -Lead Auditor Certification- ISO-9001/2000 -Negotiation expertise is preferred
