Job Summary

Responsible for providing medical care under the supervision of a medical director/advanced practice provider for patient care-related activities. Position covers two different sites in Pasadena, TX and Alvin, TX

Position will assist in filling gaps in clinic coverage for locations as needed. Mix of night shift and day shift. Primarily emergency response coverage within and outside the clinic. As well as occupational medicine duties (drug screens, return to work, and pre-hire physicals, etc.)

Required to work at least 6 shifts per month

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Completion of a Paramedic training program and required hospital and/or field training

Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Certified as a Paramedic by the Texas Department of Health;

  • Certified in Basic Life Support, BTLS, ACLS, PALS within six (6) months of hiring.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:  

  • One (1) year minimum experience as a paramedic.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.

  • Ability to perform 24/7 on-call duties as required by clinical operations.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Delivers appropriate patient care at a competent level and according to the age/needs of the patient/population served.

  • Treatment of the emergency patients and performs procedures identified on the Skills Inventory.

  • Respond to work site emergencies during shift and providing medical treatment within scope

  • Daily duties can also include inventory, calibration of equipment and employee pre physical testing to include audio testing, respirator fit testing, pulmonary function testing, audiograms, EKGs, blood draws, and vitals

  • Assists in the communication and prioritization of patient care.

  • Obtains subjective and objective data.

  • Documents on Emergency Center records according to hospital standards; provides patient/family with discharge information and/or education.

  • Provides training to ensure accurate charge capture and consistency clinical documentation; in the use of charge tools and charge entry systems.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
