Job Summary

Position is responsible for the on time pick up and delivery of lab specimens, supplies, equipment, documents, patients and employees throughout the Memorial Hermann facilities.

Responsible for managing the discharge of medical records from all 12 Memorial Hermann hospitals. Records are transported in bins, requiring the ability to lift and handle them safely. Dollies are provided to assist with heavier loads. On weekends, the driver is expected to pick up 4-5 bins at a time, each weighing a minimum of 10 lbs. The position follows a predetermined pick-up route. Additionally, the driver is responsible for delivering office supplies, ensuring all bins are securely handled. The role also includes maintaining the vehicle, encompassing oil changes, routine maintenance, and refueling.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED; preferred

Licenses/Certifications: Valid State of Texas class C drivers license with a good driving record

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Six (6) months experience driving a courier/delivery vehicle

Principal Accountabilities

  • Reads shipping and pick up orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed; delivers and picks up lab specimens, medical records, x-rays, mail, equipment, supplies, payroll documentation, checks, bank deposits etc. on a timely basis using company vehicles.

  • Delivers food and supply items as requested on a regular basis as well as an “on demand” basis or, in an emergency situation.

  • Establishes and adjusts work schedules to meet customer needs and maintains daily routes.

  • Maintains good records of all trip tickets and mileage. 

  • Performs daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicle to insure safety.

  • Supports Community Service as required by employees and customers throughout the year including evenings, weekends and Holidays.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, safety, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
