Job Summary: This Supervisory Store Associate serves in a developmental capacity as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store. They are responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a first line supervisor for Store Associates. Directs the following work in multiple areas of the commissary. Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control. Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves. Meat display and case stocking. Produce inspection display and rotation. Accounts maintenance, supply, and computer operations. Read the entire announcement before starting the application process.

Qualifications: You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify. Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include: Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees. Knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers. Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations. Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Physical requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and climb for prolonged periods. (2) Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire. Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.
