Job Summary: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

They are responsible for all supervisory duties for their team. Maintains a level of productivity and quality consistent with the complexity of the assignment and consistent with expected standards for social work professional practice, The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and VHASLCHCS. Instructs direct reports on work expectations and encourages compliance in meeting appropriate deadlines Monitors progress towards goals within PACT Social Work to ensure that direct reports are meeting goals and address barriers to meeting those established goals, in conjunction and consultation with Primary Care Social Work Supervisor Performs all supervisory duties related to direct reports including, but not limited to, timekeeping, payroll, hiring, training, evaluating, managing professional practice and disciplinary actions Acts as a liaison with the clinic leadership in their assigned primary care settings and manage the needs of assigned PACT Social Workers in assigned clinics Plans for expected gains/losses of personnel within teams and clinics, in conjunction with the Primary Care Social Work Supervisor and service leadership. Provides gap coverage for clinics and teams where no PACT Social Worker is assigned Collaborates with the Veteran and the interdisciplinary care team, facilitate the delivery of health care services, understanding that the social worker is often working with Veterans who are in crisis or under stress. Completes clinical and administrative responsibilities for the provision of social work services within their assigned team Ensures that all social work services within assigned teams are provided within the ethical and professional guidelines of VA Social Work Professional Practice Maintains knowledge of Veteran's benefits and services, community resources and process for making appropriate referrals to community and other governmental programs or agencies Functions as a trainer for new PACT Social Workers as well as provide ongoing mentoring for PACT Social Workers and PACT Senior Social Workers Establishes team goals, equitably distributes work assignments and provide general direction for the work of direct report employees. Supports and assists clinicians in maintaining appropriate clinical records, ensuring appropriate documentation, psychosocial assessments, treatment planning and discharge plans are completed in a timely manner according to station policy Conducts and completes psychosocial and behavioral health assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Veteran patient, caregivers, family members and significant others, as appropriate Conducts psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational groups to provide mental and behavioral health interventions, caregiver support, different psychosocial difficulties, loss and bereavement and group support for Veterans and/or families Maintains an assigned PACT panel. Qualifications: Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going tohttp://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Drivers License: A valid state drivers license is required as this position requires local travel to provide community-based care to Veterans through the use of a government vehicle or other individual arrangements. Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12 Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. Ability to provide staff training and development. Physical Requirements: Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. Social Worker must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation, if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the social worker or others. This position requires a valid state driver's license and local travel to provide community-based care to Veterans. The position requires significant travel in the community, through use of a government vehicle or other individual arrangements, to meet with representatives/stakeholders who provide assistance and support to Veterans in clinics, medical centers, Community Clinics, etc. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
