Job Summary: You will serve as a Supervisory Physical Science Technician in the Radiological Control Office, Code 105; Radiological Support Division, Japan Detachment, Code 105.10 of PSNS and IMF. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.*** Employees (and their family members) who require medical or dental care in Japan may experience severe limitations accessing medical care both on the military installation and the local economy, and also could incur costly medical expenses.

Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical and administrative supervision of branch personnel and is responsible to the Division Head for the timeliness, quality, and quantity of work performed by branch personnel.
  • You will assign and coordinate the work of the subordinates in the interest of overall Radiological Emergency Planning Division objectives, ensuring timely completion and quality of assigned work.
  • You will develop internal operating procedures and prior to implementation, evaluate proposals of organizational and staffing changes submitted by subordinate Supervisors.
  • You will provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies.
  • You will establish and review reports to determine work progress, investigate findings of audit reports, surveillance reports, drill reports, etc.
  • You will resolve and analyze technical problems and areas beyond the capacity of subordinates and problems which involve policy determination or recommend proposed resolutions.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing emergency planning services ensuring fleet readiness, resolving radiological control problems, overseeing and managing all the technical aspects of radiological training and radiological support and work readiness.
