SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL ENGINEER for the OCONUS Maintenance Hub Singapore in the engineering Department of Military Sealift Command, Life Cycle Mgmt Div. This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will manage the efforts and resources of the OCONUS Maintenance Hub Singapore.
  • You will plan, develop, and estimate work items.
  • You will oversee material condition surveys and inspections of the ship's hull, machinery and electrical systems and other components.
  • You will review propulsion plant and auxiliary system operations, machinery maintenance procedures, compliance with command-wide preventative maintenance programs and assessment of overall ship material conditions.
  • You will supervise the Port Engineers in the OCONUS Maintenance Hub Singapore.
  • You will plan and coordinate minor and emergent repair work needed to obtain expeditions and cost-effective resolution with minimal impact to ship mission requirements.
  • You will identify the need, nature and extent of repair, replacement, improvement, alteration or other work required to enable MSC ships to operate safely and efficiently and in accordance with appliable regulatory body requirements.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience with vessel operations and maintenance both in a commercial and military environment. 2) Experience with commercial maritime regulatory body (ABS, USCG, etc.) requirements for ship design, maintenance, and repair. 3) Experience in port engineering or a related field that requires knowledge of marine and electrical engineering/theory, naval architecture principles and practices; maintenance, repair, and alteration management, and material condition and inspection as they pertain to ocean-going vessels.
