Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Cyber Security Division of the Information Technology (IT) Department of SUPSHIP GULF COAST. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the supervisor of five IT Specialists responsible for coordinating the implementation of NMCI infrastructure for SSGC facilities, maintaining the cloud infrastructure and developing cloud applications to support command goals.
  • You will monitor the Cyber Security workload, establish priorities, report on the status/progress of work, and review completed work to see that the instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
  • You will direct, assign, and review work of subordinate employees; write position descriptions, classification analysis statements and crediting plans; review position descriptions of all subordinate employees; interview and select new employees.
  • You will oversee the compilation of network data, infrastructure diagrams, and testing results accomplished by division personnel.
  • You will formulate training plans, conduct on-the-job training and recommend formal training courses.
  • You will prepare documentation and brief management officials on specifics of requirements, both hardware and software, and outline procedures to obtain and organize enhancements.
  • You will produce system and program specifications and establish milestones which include processing steps, programs layouts, inter-relationships, sequences, and internal logic.
  • You will evaluate new technology and develop technical plans to integrate it into existing architectures, identify conflicting system interface problems and develop solutions.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NH-02 (or GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading the implementation of information technology cyber security operations (e.g., Network Accreditation, Network Management, Cybersecurity Management) to support organizational goals. Your experience must also reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risk and protection needs. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: applying information systems security principles, policies, and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to system, networks, and data. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialist on critical IT issues. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying conflicting system interface problems and developing solutions.
