Major Duties:

  • Expert in DoD/DFAS financial regulations; provided authoritative policy guidance to diverse stakeholders. Level 2 FM certification preferred.
  • Supervised financial analysts; assigned/evaluated work, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Mentored staff on complex issues.
  • Developed/implemented financial policies and procedures; enhanced internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations and data accuracy.
  • Expert communicator; presented complex financial info clearly to senior leaders, fostering collaboration and ensuring understanding of key issues.

Qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: performing in-depth analysis and evaluation of financial policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of finance operations. Examples of specialized experience include Planning and implementing process improvements relative to large-scale financial operations, systems and procedures. Providing high-level finance support to senior leadership to help them carry out financial missions, resource requirements and allocations. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-13, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher in the Federal service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
