Job Summary: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Administrative Services Office (OCASO). The incumbent operates and manages facilities programs and building operations for the historic Headquarters building (Apex) and is responsible for supervising and directing staff, including maintenance, grounds, and custodial workers, to include Building Managers and Engineers, Occupational Health and Safety personnel, and contracted staff to support the services provided by the program.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for the GS-14 level: Applicants must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which has provided them with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes the ability to lead and manage facilities programs, which includes operations and maintenance of a building or facility, demonstrated experience conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and supervising operations for conformance with project plans and skill in applying Ventilation, Energy and Building Codes as they pertain to the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of HVAC components and systems. (This specific experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable for this GS-14 grade level) Examples: Techniques relative to planning and organizing policies procedures and practices, directing space planning and alteration projects, leasing, budget management and operations facilities management programs that involved developing and evaluating plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates and calculations for facility layouts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
