Job Summary: Employees in the Supervisory Dietitian (Clinical Nutrition) assignment are the expert in clinical nutrition and oversee a complex Clinical Nutrition Section which involves providing administrative and technical supervision of GS-12 Dietitians and the oversight of the work of Clinical Dietitians at the GS-11 level and below. Position supervises dietitians in Inpatient, Outpatient, HBPC, the Internship Director and the coordinators for the MOVE! and DSMES programs.

Qualifications: Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) - Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements. Grade Determination: GS-13 Supervisory Dietitian (Clinical Nutrition) Experience Requirement: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-13 you must possess at least 1 year of experience as an RDN/RD equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) which demonstrates the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in written communication to include policy development and standard operating procedures. Skill in strategic planning to develop goals, objectives and action plans. Skill in analyzing data to monitor progress towards improving and sustaining outcomes. Ability to negotiate. Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance).
