40Summary:
We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is motivated to work with Hematology/Oncology patients.
This full-time position will support our growing Onco-Fertility preservation program as well as other opportunities for cross training amongst our team of H/O Advanced Practice Providers (APP's).
The APP – Fertility Preservation will grow a holistic and comprehensive fertility preservation program for children and Adolescent/Young Adults at risk of iatrogenic infertility throughout Cook Children’s. This position is responsible for overall operational performance of the program, including business and patient care aspects. Areas of responsibility include clinical practice, programmatic growth, and data management. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision making abilities that take into consideration evidence based practice. Understands and monitors financial performance of the fertility preservation program.
Prior experience in Oncology, Endocrinology, Gynecology or Urology helpful.
Education/Experience:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
• Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred
• Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
• Current Texas professional registered nurse license
• Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license
• Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
Physician Assistants
• Current Texas professional physician assistant license
• Recognition from the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required.
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
* PALS certification is required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, Nephrology, and Neurology departments.
