The Supervisory Accountant role is integral in supporting AIG’s SEC Reporting team, with primary responsibility for preparing prominent public-facing financial reports, most notably the 10-K/Q and quarterly Financial Supplement utilized widely by investors and analysts. Underpinning this role is the delivery of these and other documents/reports timely, accurately and in a decision-useful manner. This role will require knowledge of US GAAP/SEC reporting requirements and the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate across various functions of the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing critical public-facing disclosures, notably participating in the production of the 10-K/Q, as well as supporting delivery of the Financial Supplement etc., and execution of related internal controls (including audit support packages) to verify the propriety of such disclosures
Leveraging financial reporting platform to efficiently and effectively respond to feedback – both during and outside of peak reporting periods – that addresses business needs, properly frames significant transactions and generally addresses continuous improvement in the quality of our public-facing disclosures
Supporting the SEC team’s partnering efforts across functions, including Investor Relations, Legal, et al, to ensure timely, accurate and consistent delivery of quarterly financial results and external reporting including Forms 10-K/10-Q, Financial Supplement, press release and investor presentations in accordance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
Identifying opportunities and contribute to strengthening the control environment and implementing process improvements
Supporting the audit process with external and internal auditors
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Qualified CPA preferred
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in a financial reporting role at a public company; insurance sector experience a plus
Systems-technical acumen, including experience utilizing Workiva as a financial reporting platform, with a desire and aptitude to expand learning
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery, with an ability to effectively work across teams
Strong attention to detail, where accuracy and precision are critical to success, yet possessing an ability to step back and appreciate broader objectives around effective communication and the inter-relationship across all our public disclosures
