POSITION SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervises the Patient Access staff teams in our mission to receive and register all patients.
30% Oversees daily operations of Patient Access Department. Able to fill any departmental position as needed. Holds monthly department meetings. Assists department manager with hiring, orienting, training and maintaining department standards, including corrective actions as necessary.
30% Implements departmental staffing plans to schedule and maintain adequate staffing – monitoring assignments every 4 hours as needed. Prepares and administers annual competency reports , self- learning modules, and ensures annual health assessment completion for all direct reports.
30% Reviews registration accuracy via a variety of reports and records review to ensure a 98% billable account goal by day 5. Understands insurance requirements including pre-certification and copayment collection guidelines. Assists manager in developing and communicating new procedures, process changes and customer feedback improvement opportunities.
10% Schedules/Pre-registers/Registers/Admits patients for all services. Ensures accurate diagnosis information for patient records. Orders tests and enters charges as necessary.
B. MENTAL/VISUAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be highly organized and able to focus in a diverse, fast-paced environment. Sit, walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 30 lbs., push over 200 lbs. in a wheelchair if needed. Must have manual dexterity and visual ability for keyboarding and data entry. Hearing acuity required for patient interviews. Mental concentration is essential for accurate data collection within a multi-functional, diverse environment.
C. PATIENT SENSITIVITY: Provides the strictest patient confidentiality. Must model as well an ensure staff provide the highest level of professionalism and sensitivity while collecting accurate patient demographics, insurance information, treatment authorization and payments even within critical situations. Demonstrates general caring and respect for every patient, neonate to geriatric, regardless of physical, mental, social or financial abilities.
E. EDUCATION CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Requires an AAS Degree with two or three years of experience in office work, including typing, filing, business machines and statistical reports.
F. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Must be knowledgeable with various computer programs including, but not limited to Windows, UKG, Microsoft Office.
G. PROBLEM-SOLVING: Must be able to make administrative decisions in the absence of the Manager.
Is the point of contact for hospital staff in the absence of the Manager.
H. PLANNING: Time management is essential on a daily basis to insure proper day to day operation. Planning is generally not longer than on a week-by-week basis.
Pay Range: $22.45-$31.92
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
