ABOUT THE ROLE
The Supervisor, General Accounting role plays a central role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, preparing financial statements, and ensuring strong accounting controls. You will lead key areas such as general ledger accounting, financial reporting, fixed asset management, and audit preparation. This position also includes supervisory oversight of the Grant Administration function, providing guidance to the team member responsible for grant applications, compliance tracking, and reporting requirements.
We are seeking an experienced, analytical accounting professional who brings strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys collaborating across departments, solving problems, and contributing to a dynamic, growing Finance organization. This Supervisor, General Accounting role reports directly to the Controller.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Lead efforts to achieve an accurate and timely month-end close by coordinating close activities, aligning team priorities, and completing assigned tasks
- Prepare monthly journal entries and complete assigned account reconciliations
- Coordinate the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of reconciling items and driving continuous process improvement
- Prepare monthly financial statements—Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement—and all supporting schedules for the monthly reporting package
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A)
- Review, update, and maintain Project Evaluation Forms for all capital and major company purchases, closing the loop with managing all fixed asset accounting activities, including journal entries, roll-forwards, capital expenditure tracking, and oversight of the CIP account
- Support FP&A with monthly forecast updates and annual budget preparation
- Coordinate and participate in annual financial audit activities, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Lead efforts in developing and maintaining accounting policies, internal controls, and procedural documentation
- Participate in rapid continuous improvement (RCI) initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency. Provide strong customer service and partnership to internal business stakeholders, fostering collaboration and problem-solving
- Supervise the Grant Administration function, including oversight of grant applications, compliance tracking, financial and operational reporting requirements, documentation and controls for awarded grants, and providing guidance to ensure accurate and timely completion of all grant-related tasks
- Perform additional accounting projects and initiatives assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience, including general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation
- Supervisory or team oversight experience preferred, or demonstrated ability to lead and provide guidance to others
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience supporting financial audits and preparing audit schedules
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, synthesize information, and present clear, actionable insights to support decision-making
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Proven ability to take ownership, show initiative, and drive tasks to completion
- Organizational and time management skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience using ERP financial modules (e.g., Infor Syteline, NetSuite, MS Dynamics, SAP, Oracle), with the ability to improve processes within less sophisticated systems
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

- Standard start time: 6:30 am (negotiable)
- Must be able to navigate manufacturing environment, comfortable around heavy machinery, tools, etc.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, (i.e. safety glasses, bump caps, hearing protection, etc.)
EXPECTED COMPENSATION
$75,000 - $250,000/annual salary + bonus + premium benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job classification, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
